The A249-based Detling Diner closed almost 18 months ago following a devastating fire which started in its stockroom due to an electrical fault. It reopened on Wednesday, November 5, with up to 100 people returning on each of the first two days.

Prior to the fire the diner was a popular venue for HDRCGB Region 17 mid month Sunday meet. After the fire the meet relocated to The Stag of the second Sunday, and due to its popularity The Stag will continue, and Detling Diner becomes an addition to the calendar.

Initially this venue will be under a trial period and will be added formally in the New Year so long as it proves as popular as expected.

Over the last two years, they have seen the diner become a filming set for TV productions three times – twice before the blaze and once afterwards.
